The Brief:
To celebrate the MX-5’s 30th anniversary, Mazda launched a limited edition Racing Orange version of the best-selling roadster, ever. Our brief was to celebrate this iconic car’s birthday, whilst reinforcing its sporty heritage.
The Idea:
True icons are often immortalised with portraits captured by the world’s most revered photographers. Think Queen Elizabeth by Annie Liebovitz, David Bowie’s Aladdin Sane shoot with Brian Duffy or Salvador Dali’s portraits with Irving Penn. To create a world-first car equivalent, we enlisted celebrated Formula 1 photographer Darren Heath to shoot the roadster in his distinct and evocative style. Captured at world-famous racetrack Brands Hatch, the results revealed something beautiful and timeless – a true portrait of an icon.
