♯hoyshiddenbikes - a social media campaign for Evans Cycles

As part of our Great Evans Cycles Trade In campaign for Evans Cycles – we enrolled Sir Chris Hoy to hide 3 knackered old bikes (painted gold) in locations around the UK.

He then tweeted 3 clues as to their whereabouts to his half million followers over the next few weeks culminating in the ‘lock-code’

Eager followers spent days combing the streets of London, Manchester and Edinburgh, searching for the special bike and tweeting their progress. Those lucky enough to find one, could trade it in at their local Evans Cycles to get £1,000 to spend on a shiny new bike.

The campaign created an enormous amount of buzz across all of Evans Cycles’ social media channels, leading to:
– 36,000 new visits to the website (56% of which had never visited the Evans Cycles website before)
– Increased Twitter following by 14.8% and Facebook likes by 9.4%
– The first tweeted clue alone generated 10,000 clicks. The most ever for an Evans Cycles link.

– Part of our broader Great Evans Cycles Trade in campaign that delivered the best sales week in Evans Cycles’ 90 year history (37% uplift in sales YOY, Market share shifted 18.6% to 20.6% over campaign period)
